EducationHealing Hands for Haiti International Foundation's (HHH) dream is to educate Haitians in Haiti to provide services that HHH's medical teams are currently providing. Because of this, HHH has a strong emphasis in education. Below are some of the programs we've put together towards that goal: Preventive and Public Health Education ProgramThis program provides preventive and public health education to patients and families about the major causes of amputations and other rehabilitation disorders. It will include personal instruction by a nurse educator, along with written and video materials in the following subjects:
Rehabilitation Technician I Education ProgramThis program provides two 6-month classes per year for the purposes of training Haitian students at the aid level in physical, occupational, and nursing care therapies. Rehabilitation Technician II Education ProgramThis program will be taught over a period of two years. It is to train Haitian students at the Rehabilitation Assistant level in providing physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and nursing cares. Prosthetic Education ProgramThis program will train Haitian students who have completed the Technician I program. They will complete additional on the job training with a licensed prosthetist in the United States for six months. The student will receive additional on the job training from licensed prosthetists who are assigned to Healing Hands For Haiti medical teams over a period of two years. Continued Medical Education (CME)This program will provide four training courses per year to Haitian medical professionals with continuing medical education and to promote rehabilitation medicine at a level of expertise not currently obtainable in Haiti. |
